I have breasts, and I have birds. May I please receive an explanation for this?

What sort of experiment could involve birds in my room?

Anything can happen during the experiments. I suppose that means it's only a matter of time for the rest of us, as well...

I don't understand what this one could be.

Can the effects of an experiment be completely random, or do they have some sort of meaning? No matter how much I think abot it, I cannot recall a monster that looks like a woman with ravens.

It's nothing I'm aware of, either. The experiments are always something specific, although at times it takes a while for their meanings to be known.

Perhaps this one... is meant to teach us to have sympathy for monsters all over the worlds?

I doubt they're meant to teach us anything... the Malnosso are more malicious in their intentions.

...They could intend to send us to other worlds to be killed as monsters, then.

These effects will last perhaps a week, and then never again occur. If you're fortunate.

Had you asked two months ago, I would have said I am. But now I almost expect this transformation to last two weeks.

Well... there have been times when they've lasted longer than the standard week. There's no way of knowing if that will happen, though. They'd never keep us so informed.

Did those longer experiments have anything else in common?

Well. When we were struck with a repeat of several effects at once... that lasted for two weeks. But that only happened once.

Several effects at once, for two whole weeks? The chaos must have been terrible.

It was perhaps one of the worst experiences imaginable. I became myself as a young child, and then traded bodies with... Golbez.

...That sounds rather draining. Was your mind also affected? Could you access his powers?

I was myself, fortunately. There've been enough experiments that affect one's mental state. I could access everything he was capable of, including powers.

[Not that he was very tempted to use them, with the 'Why must I be Golbez, the universe hates me,' attitude he'd had.]

That could have been dangerous. I doubt those powers came with instrutions, or even instinctive knowledge. Have there ever been accidents with uncontrolled powers?

...It can happen. Everyone must be wary when these experiments occur.

You'd think they were hoping for us to die, sometimes.

That's not an experience I recommend. [After going through it three times he can be more than sure of that.] They need us for their experiments, and to fight that Third Party. If we die, they just revive us anyway.
