I have breasts, and I have birds. May I please receive an explanation for this?

[Whether or not he receives one, Cecil will soon leave the house to visit the weapon shop. Then, spear in hand, ravens at his side, he'll patrol the village looking for either people he knows or terribly bloody battles. He's not very picky about it.]

On dragonback? Did he find a dragon, or was he the dragon?

He was the dragon. It was another experiment--possibly his favorite one.

What else did people transform into, at that time?

I turned into Mist Dragon, Ceodore turned into Selphie...basically people turned into things or people or creatures that they liked.

That sounds like a nice experiment, at least. Though having two Selphies in the house must have been strange.

Oh, it was--and Selphie hated it, but I'd recommend against bringing that up in front of her.

[Ceodore had earned enough of her scorn, after all.]

Alright, I'll not mention it. I suppose seeing your exact copy could be somewhat alarming.

[Especially if your significant other was groping it, but she's not going to open up that can of worms by saying so.]

...maybe I should stay out of the house for a while. If I turn into anything huge, I don't want to destroy it.

You might also want to avoid overly crowded spaces, just in case. A sudden transformation could cause a panic.

[She sighs.]

Maybe Kain and I should have made that trip to the mountains, after all.

I suspect that would have its disadvantages, too.

[Rydia nods, a wry smile on her lips.]

It would...and besides, it wouldn't be right to just leave, in case you needed our help.

For all I know, I'll suddenly become a fish in my sleep. Your presence at such a time would be very helpful.

...Would they truly transform people into fish and leave them on the ground?

[She wrinkles her nose.]

They might, but I doubt it. As annoying as their experiments are, we're not usually in any danger from them.

...'Usually'?

[And she gives into pacing, raking a hand through her hair.]

Sometimes harm does come, but it's usually of the indirect sort. Like, one time I was teleported to the middle of the lake...in November. If Golbez hadn't found me, I might have drowned or frozen before I ever reached home.

[Cecil freezes in place when he hears that.]

You almost... Could you not warp yourself home? How did he manage to find you?

He happened to be at the lakeside--and no, I couldn't. The moment I was teleported, I couldn't use my normal voice--so I couldn't access the Warp spell.

[Not a fun time, as her expression indicates.]

Do you think the timing of that teleportation was deliberate?

[Because if it was, there will be hell to pay.]

[Wince.]

Oh, it was. A letter promised people that if they stepped through this portal, they could go home. I thought it might be a trap, but...I missed my Eidolons too much not to try.

It promised...?

[He can see why that would be tempting.]

Were the people responsible for that letter identified and caught? Were they dealt with? Their prank could have killed people!

[She shook her head.]

It wasn't any of us, Cecil. None of us have the power for such a thing, especially with the barrier in place.

Is there a way to know which Malnosso is responsible, then? Would they answer if we asked?

[Rydia stares off in thought.]

From what I remember, the portal morphed into a hologram of an old man. It was him who created the portal in the first place. Supposedly, it wasn't supposed to do what it did and there was some sort of mistake. I don't believe it, though, and I didn't talk to the hologram myself, so I'm not sure what else he said. Maybe Kain did....

[If Cecil finds a way to frown more, he'll have wrinkles.]

That sounds like a poor, false excuse to me. If those people truly experiment, they should know to test their portals.
