That's a wonderful idea, Cecil! I wish we had thought of it earlier, but there's no time like the present to fix that.

Since it would be at everyone's disposal, I wanted to know what people usually write with. As you can see-

[She peers at the pile, then shrugs.]

I don't see why we can't have a good variety available. Then, people can write with whatever they please.

Sadly, I was unable to find a keyboard. But I did take some artistic supplies, for those who cannot find the right words.

This ought to do just fine, though! Hm...I think I know where we can place that book in the Welcome Center. I'd just need to rearrange some things, but it wouldn't take long.

That would be quite kind of you. Newcomers should be able to access it easily.

Exactly. I think in the main room would be best, so people can see it when they first enter.

Perhaps with a panel nearby, for those who'd prefer privacy while they write?

[She nods thoughtfully.]

Hm, that's a good idea. I'm sure we can provide that, without an issue.

I only hope everyone'll not feel too embarrassed to write their feelings down.

Some might, but they can always right something anonymous, I suppose. It defeats the purpose of getting in touch right away, but it's their choice.

...I'd feel saddened, if I knew someone cared but not enough to tell me their name.

So would I. In a place like this, you need all the friends you can get. Still, there's no forcing people. At least your idea will allow some bonds to be kept or rekindled.

At the very least, it might spark some interesting discussions. Even then, no one would be forced to become friends again.

Did Archie say when he wanted to do this ceremony? I wasn't sure if he'd decided on a date.

He mentioned no date to me. Could he be waiting for the next wave of New Feathers?

Possibly, that might be a hectic time for that. After the flood subsides would be better, but it's completely up to him. I'm just glad someone's taking the initiative.

Has there ever been such a ceremony before? Since some people have been here for years...

[Rydia's silent for a moment, thinking.]

I...there might have been one before, but if I'm right, it was a very long time ago. Certainly enough time has passed to make it welcome again.

Remembering those who have left is important. Our memories are the only proof of their pasage here.

[She nods, her expression softening.]

You're right. Sometimes it's hard, not having anything else left behind when they go, but that's all the more reason to hold tight to those memories.

Yet when we leave, those memories disappear with us. Who knows how many people have been completely forgotten?

[Rydia frowns, looking sharply away.]

I don't believe those memories are completely gone. I won't. They might be buried, but there's always a chance to bring them out again.

Even if they are merely buried, they follow us to our original worlds. Those who have left cannot suddenly return and tell us about the first people who found themselves here. We are missing a great part of this village's history.

[Calm, Rydia. She takes a deep breath and looks back at Cecil.]

I know. We won't ever be able to make up for that completely, but we'll do what we can. I think it will make a difference.
