...Has anyone else ever found a particular item in the shop, and thought that it must have been placed there to taunt you? Would the Malnosso even commit such a petty act? At least it should match the pansies...

[With that said, Cecil can be found at any point on the road between the item shop and house 32, bearing... a flower in a small vase?]

Of course not. I don't see why anyone would wish to stay here, controlled by the Malnosso constantly.. The situation back home would have to be really bad for them to be so desperate.

Some would consider their new friendships enough to stay, perhaps. Though it makes me wonder if they have anyone waiting for them.

Surely they realise that our stay here is only temporary. It's better to not attach too much value to any of those bonds since they will lose them again soon after either way.

Even if these bonds are merely temporary, we might as well enjoy them while we can. Goodness knows I'd never be able to see certain sides of my friends and family if it was not for these circumstances.

'Certain sides'..? In what sort of sense? I doubt this places brings up the good in anyone.

My brother is much more talkative here than he is at home, for one. And two of closest friends have finally managed to discover the joys of love.

Everything will be gone in this place sooner or later. It's better to not get attached like I said. Once you go back home everything will be the same as always again.

...For now, perhaps. But some people find themselves brought back to Luceti with their previous memories. It might mean that there could be a way to keep them in our worlds, though it is currently not possible.

Such a faint hope.. I see no reason to cling to something like that. There's no way it's possible right now either way.

Someone has to cling to that hope, for their sake if for no other reason. Luckily, I'm good at it.

I wouldn't call that luckily, but whatever. I guess you're free to think whatever you want.

It is lucky. My hope has rarely been proven wrong. ...Of course, that would be because everyone was working to make it true.

I'm the opposite of that. I used to hope, sometimes, but it's been betrayed so many times that keeping up such a thing is just useless by now.

...I'm sorry. Is there no way at all to fulfill these hopes in either this world or yours?

I just said, right..? ... I already gave up on those things long ago. I'm perfectly content the way I am now.

Still, if there was a way they could happen, it'd be like a pleasant surprise. Though perhaps the knowledge that it cannot last here would ruin it...
