Also, after a mission, would you rather take the immediate rewards or the points we can trade? Those patches that can hide us from the droids look useful, but that '80%' of theirs is far from reassuring.

With the broth, perhaps? I was hoping to use more than simple water, but I've no idea what would match the meats best.

...I was thinking that we could work toward one of those 'Applied Shifts' requests, so we could add our new rooms to be automatically repaired. Hopefully, there will never be need for that, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

[Meanwhile, Cecil starts chopping the celery.]

That could be useful indeed, especially if any large scale experiments take place again. ...Though I have to say that the patches would be my personal goal. Some of our own have been taken all too often.

I won't say a reprieve from kidnappings wouldn't be welcome. It's been a while since my last, but I'm in no hurry for it to happen again.

I suppose I should find myself lucky not to have known that particular pleasure yet.

What other reward ideas caught your attention?

They mention objects from our worlds. I can think of a few that would be extremely useful... Such as, say, a pair of whisperweed cuttings, this time.

Ooh, yes. A completely secret method of communication would be wonderful.

And it'd be nice to have a keepsake from home.

Or some specialized equipment. We managed to obtain a very useful ring that reduces the strain on a mage's power when they cast, along with some lovely armor made of adamantite.

[Rydia is silent for a moment, involved in preparations, then she turns to him.]

Whatever we can have that would help us through the next draft or crisis, I'd say it's worth the effort to attain.

Unless, of course, we find ourselves completing so many missions that we are not present here when we are needed. We should set ourselves a few goals and work toward them, instead of merely stockpiling.

Well, let's take it one at a time. We haven't even been on any, yet. I want to see how that goes first, before making any real long-term goals.

True. If the objectives of certain missions turn out to be too restrictive or amoral, very few prizes would be worth it.

But it might be worth it to try at least once...especially if the timing is such that we can avoid an experiment while doing so.

I'd rather be there to help those who might need it. Healing is needed all too often.

I'm pretty sure it's possible. Many couldn't be done by just one person.

Yet they might want to keep us separated, to avoid any uprisings. With the opportunity to see the world beyond the barrier, some will certainly try.
