Rosa Farrell has left Luceti.

[It comes abruptly, harshly, flatly. Cecil does not sound in terrible pain as he did the last time he had to make such an announcement. In fact, he sounds very much as though he's forgotten how to inflect.]

And exactly how much is enough?

A year or more, perhaps... it's probably different for everyone.

We should not be forced to stay that long in the first place.

Yet that's the fate that many of us face.

...There's very little we can do about it now, is there.

Indeed not. Who comes and goes, and when... is beyond our control.

Was that always the case? Will it forever stay so?

It was always so, and I can't see that they'd ever change that.

...What if we could change that?

It would be helpful, for us, but I don't know how we could achieve such a thing.

But we must still try, mustn't we?

Giving up is never an option.

Indeed... it never has been, and never will be.

No matter how long it takes.

Agreed. No matter how long.

No matter how difficult it is.

We've the strength to endure, yes.

Otherwise we would have fallen long ago.

And yet we still stand, yes.

We have some talent at standing, it seems.

A worthwhile talent to have.

Terribly useful, yes.

Being capable of enduring, of not ever being knocked down for good, is important, after all.

Both for us as individuals and for the world.
