No good, they don't have... How does this even work? I'll stay away from it for now...

[Rummaging noises come from the journal, numerous but careful. It sounds like someone is exploring the item shop.]

I apologize for bothering everyone, but could anyone recommend objects that are helpful to a household? Specifically, objects that are necessary for a new arrival or that can keep the house organized and clean. I'm not familiar with most of the products I find here, and I'd rather not bring anything that is useless or dangerous home. I'd be most thankful for your help.

[He falls quiet, and for a few moments only the sounds of items being moved can be heard. It appears his message is over, but-]

His secretary. She's not a trained fighter, but she's rather talented with a whip. She insisted on following him, even though she knew we might not come home alive.

She's pretty brave, for someone not too familiar with combat.

Brave and determined and quite attached. From what I saw during meetings, she has a good head for numbers, too.

Attached as in quite interested as far as anyone can tell, but Edward is quite oblivious to it. Well, was; they did seem to spend more time together during the last few days. I think he might have caught on.

Well, it's about time.

I know. Now, we'll have to find someone for Edge. Palom is doing fine, and Porom is still young, but he has neither of those excuses.

[Cue eyeroll.]

Edge? If he hasn't found anyone to put up with him by that time, he's probably not going to.

...don't tell Kain. He'll just gloat.

...I think he's decided that he wants to marry for love, on his own terms, rather than because his court wants him too. He's concentrating his efforts on training his students and the world's reconstruction.

[Also, still completely hung up on Rydia.]

If Kain starts gloating, I'll merely tell him about the color of his new armor, and the exact words Edge used to refer to it. That should shut him up quickly.

Well, he better hurry up. The world isn't going to wait for him to make up his mind.

[The summoner decides against asking about Kain's armor, wary about opening the floodgates when it comes to knowing more than she should. Besides, she assumes that Edge either just wants to pick on him, or that Kain had a moment of fashion insanity AND SHE WILL SOON CORRECT IT. She chuckles.]

...I'll take your word for it, Cecil.

Well, I suppose he could always marry Izayoi, if he needs to marry someone he'll get along with. But their relationship doesn't appear to be like that, or anything more than one between a teacher and his student.

[But it's not actually Kain's fault, this time! He was dressing himself relatively well, until Kluya got involved.]

It's not that bad. It looks absolutely lovely with his eyes, and it does not clash with his hair. For once.

[Any hint of teasing in his voice comes from Rydia's imagination.]

I'm sure that's a great relief to us all. Maybe Edge is just jealous.

[...Cecil is now imagining Edge putting on Kain's armor, complete with helmet, with his scarf still on. Thank you for the lovely mental image, Rydia. Please don't mind Cecil laughing and choking.]

[Cecil's laughter is infectious and Rydia finds herself joining in after a moment.]

[He manages to calm his laughter for a few seconds.]

I should have known the 'pretty princess blue' comment was his way of showing his envy.

[And that starts him all over again.]

That does explain a lot...and if he shows up and remembers making that comment, I'll toad him.

To be honest, his assesment was spot on. But he was the only one willing to say so in front of Kain.

If Kain didn't retaliate, I'd be much surprised.

I think he's waiting for a time when we're not fighting for our lives. But they get along relatively well, now.

Well, that's a relief. I wouldn't want to hear their bickering forever...though if Edge arrives here, I'm sure that's what we'll get.

If he comes from my time, he might make an effort, considering the circumstances.

I suppose any gain in maturity is better than what he had before.

Oh, he still drives his seneschal insane. But he is known as a fair and just king, always willing to listen to his people.

I'm glad to hear there's a decent head on his shoulders...but don't tell him that. He has a big enough ego as it is and I doubt that's ever something which will go away.
