1st moon [accidental video]
Did... did we fail? Did that being somehow kill us all?
[The video post must accidental, because it shows a naked, pale male chest. It looks like someone is holding his journal against himself in a desperate attempt to ward off the cold.]
I cannot remember him attacking... Perhaps I hit my head? But would the afterlife not heal such wounds? [The sound of rustling hair.] No blood, and no swelling. Perhaps the wound can be healed, but the amnesia cannot? ...I suppose it matters not, in the end.
[His feet barely make any noise on the ground, but his body is obviously moving, even from such a close range.]
I should be thankful I appear to be the only one present at least. Perhaps Ceodore and the others have survived... As long as this crisis is averted, my death is an acceptable price to pay. But still, I’d hoped...
[But whatever he’d hoped, he does not say.]
...I should try to find my sword and shield. This afterlife might not be as pleasant as it appears to be.

[Seeing clothes that look like something he'd wear is a great comfort, but those legs are even more of one. He rushes toward her.]
Rydia! Are you well? What exactly is happening?
[She sets the pile down on the nearest table...then clings to him before she gives the poor man a chance to get properly dressed.]
I missed you....
[action]
[Screw getting dressed, hugs are better.]
Missed me? We were just hit by the same attack.
[Not realizing she looks younger
, because no one actually looks older in The After Years.][action]
Cecil...the last thing I remember before arriving here was returning to Baron to visit you, not too long after your wedding. I'm not sure what attack you mean, at all. Kain likewise only remembers beginning his quest on Mount Ordeals and Golbez...he was asleep on the moon before arriving here.
[She sighs.]
Damn those Malnosso, why do they have to make this so confusing for everyone?
[action]
...All those events took place seventeen years ago. How can this be?
[He absentmindedly picks up a shirt and starts putting it on.]
Who are the Malnosso? Are they allies of that strange being?
[action]
People arrive to Luceti from different times as well as different worlds. The Malnosso are scientists who, though they probably didn't bring us over, are responsible for us being trapped behind a barrier that encircles this area. It drains the strength of our powers and we...can't leave, because of it.
[She steps back and smiles sheepishly.]
I'll turn around so you can get dressed. Then I can take us to a place where we can better warm up.
[action]
[He smiles back at her, with barely any hesitation.]
Thank you. This land is even colder that the moons, and the lack of clothing does not help.
[action]
I tried everything at that barrier, including Meteor. It didn't change anything. However the Malnosso made it, I'm willing to bet it has to be brought down from their headquarters...and good luck with that, since we rarely if ever see them.
[Pause.]
...what strange being? Or am I better off not knowing? To be honest, I've kept myself from knowing much about Ceodore's time. Kain, too. It's just...weird to think of it being set in stone, instead of something that can be changed.
[But still, maybe Cecil could answer without giving too much away.]
[action]
Meteor did not damage it? What about Bahamut? Band attacks? Is there a way to find them?
I do not know exactly what he is. He spoke of crystals, planets, experiments... Then he attacked us, and I found myself here. The two of you were not told about your futures?
[action]
Ceodore might have told us if we asked, but...it was enough of a shock, meeting him. I wasn't sure it was wise to learn more, and I'm still of that mind. I am thrilled to see you, though. Don't ever thing otherwise.
[She turns around to look at him, smiling in approval before...oh, right, more questions. She winces, though at what she's about to say rather than her role as exposition.]
I...can't summon here, Cecil. I still have my black magic and I've learned how to heal again, but my Eidolons aren't accessible to me. As for Band attacks, Ceodore taught me one and we tried it, but that likewise had no effect. The only way to reach those people is through the journals, but I wouldn't expect it. That's rare, too.
[action]
[That wince makes him frown slightly, and the words that follow merely deepen it. Some of it sounds too familiar for comfort.]
To think they'd be able to cut your bond with the Eidolons... And without Rosa and Edge, we'd not be able to use our most powerful attack.
[He fingers his own journal.]
Does this mean that the journal's range reaches beyond the barrier? Could it reach home?
[action]
[She shakes her head at that last question.]
It can't reach home, but it can reach past the barrier, at least sometimes. You see--
[She cuts herself off, smiling apologetically.]
I better take you home, before Ceodore becomes impatient. Um...don't mind the mess, we're in the middle of moving across town. There will be enough room for us all, though.
[action]
...The Band the two of us know involves your summoning powers. If you cannot access them, we might not be able to replicate it.
[Moving? That sounds terribly domestic. It makes him wonder how long they've all been here.]
Will you need help with the furniture? Even with my strength drained, I should be able to Teleport them, as long as you show me where.
[action]
I'm sure that will be helpful, Cecil. Thank you.
[And before she rambles much further...Warping time, to the living room of the two-story house they currently occupy.]
[action]
How long have you lived here? Who else is here?
[action]
[Speaking of a certain derp...Rydia heads over to the stairs and glances up them.]
Ceodore? We're here!
[action]
[But the moment she calls out to Ceodore, he looks up at the stairs. He's talked to him through those journals, of course, but he still needs to acertain his safety with his own eyes.]
[action]
He must still be retrieving your armor and sword. I'm sure he'll be here in a minute, then. And Selphie did have some friends from home, but most of them have since returned.
[No peep on the couple as a couple, though. Ceodore would just have to tell his father about his love life himself. She heads in the direction of the sofa, then pauses and turns.]
Do you want anything in the way of food or drink? The kitchen is still stocked.
[action]
This world sounds rather instable. How often do people appear and disappear? Why us?
[He goes back to looking around, but he quickly answers her question.]
A glass of water and a light snack, if you'd please. We'd not eaten in some time, and food was scarce.
[action]
[She leads the way, opening the door for him. It doesn't resemble familiar kitchens at all, given that the technology is highly upgraded from what they had at home; an electric oven, sink (yay, indoor plumbing) and so on. Rydia heads over to a cabinet to fetch a glass.]
It is unstable, true. There's no way to predict how long one will remain here; people disappear at any time, though they arrive only once every two months. I'm not sure why us, though, except that maybe our powers interest them.
[action]
If our powers interest them, that means they might tire of them. Could that explain why people disappear? Is everyone who disappears replaced by someone else?
[action]
No, though at first I thought that. However, last summer, a great many people disappeared and they weren't replaced. Our population dwindled significantly. Now the cycle is at the pattern I described to you. Before then, it was once a month.
Here.
[She hands over the glass.]
[action]
A change of pattern prefaced by multiple disappearances? That sounds rather alarming, if you ask me. Did you ever receive an explanation for that? And what exactly is that machine used for?
[He's pointing at the oven, by the way.]
[action]
As for explanations...no, we didn't. They almost never explain anything to us.
[She begins to root around the kitchen, checking to see what they have in the way of snack stuff.]
Hm...we have fresh fruit, muffins from the bakery, a salad I cut up earlier, and there's leftover pizza....
[action]
[Ceodore's developed a fondness for the stuff and junk food in general. Also, hi there family! Have Dad's armor if you please. He'll just be rummaging the fridge for the pizza.]
