15th moon [voice]

[As far as accidental voice messages go, this one is simple enough.

All that can be heard is the journal falling to the ground, and Cecil screaming in pain.

One cannot be expected to take the sudden and brutal loss of a somewhat telepathic father-son connection gracefully, after all.]

The Malnosso will rip people away from others quicker before a person can blink. At least you can see him at home, right? [ There's an upside to this! Hopefully! ]
paladinlost: (blow)

[personal profile] paladinlost 2012-01-17 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
If I return home, at least. A few of my friends have been here for three years. If I stay here that long...
weaponry: (back door cracked)

Oh god this is at terrible tag, I am so sorry.

[personal profile] weaponry 2012-01-18 09:41 am (UTC)(link)
If you stay here that long, then it just means the reunion will be sweeter. However, as long as you can see him again someday, no matter how distant, isn't that reason enough to have something to be grateful for?

Where I'm from, most parents aren't able to make good bonds with their kids [ pause. ] because they're dead. At least he has a luxury of a loving father that he'll be able to see and adore again! Your relationship is stronger than any distance, you know!
paladinlost: (faraway)

What terrible, this is beautiful.

[personal profile] paladinlost 2012-01-19 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[Indeed, Ceodore has a living loving father who would be more than happy to see him again. But Cecil himself did not, which is why part of his pain is replaced by a a deep feeling of sympathy for the people of her world.]

...We both are lucky indeed. Yet this is the one good point of this world, is it not? Everyone is brought from different times; meeting dead, absent or future loved ones is always a possibility, no matter how quickly it may pass. Even the people from your land...
weaponry: (we get in for free)

aww! thank you!

[personal profile] weaponry 2012-01-20 10:37 am (UTC)(link)
[ Tenten can hear a tone become more sympathetic but she doesn't comment on the change. ]

Hm, you have a point. A lot of people have the chance to see loved ones that were long one in their world. But, in a case where they're permanently gone, having them taken away the second time must hurt beyond words can express.
paladinlost: (anonymous)

[personal profile] paladinlost 2012-01-20 02:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Yet even if it hurts, the new happy memories must be worth it. Or at least, many seem to think so. They do say much about loving and losing, after all.
weaponry: (now you’re one of us)

[personal profile] weaponry 2012-01-22 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
It depends. I wouldn't be particularly happy if a loved one shows up here. Well, on one level, I'd be upset to see them dealing with the town, but on the other hand I'd be happy to have them around. But, reviving someone would give someone such a hope, to send them back just wouldn't be worth what it could impact. But I haven't been in the situation, so I guess I really can't judge.
paladinlost: (faraway)

[personal profile] paladinlost 2012-01-22 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I suppose we cannot truly know how we'd react until it happens. There must be some who would take it better than they would expect, and others who would be broken by the experience.
weaponry: (now you’re one of us)

[personal profile] weaponry 2012-01-23 10:22 am (UTC)(link)
You're right. Everyone's different so everyone will react differently. I know I'd be really pissed, if it came down to it. It makes you wonder just what the Malnosso are thinking when they send them home, or if they're even in control of that process at all. I think they are since they obviously summon you here and give you wings and a barcode. Those things just don't get put on automatically.
paladinlost: (flowy)

[personal profile] paladinlost 2012-01-24 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
...Are you so certain of that? We've had Shifts that modified our bodies before, and we have permanent Shifts that restock the stores. Neither appeared to be applied individually or reapplied. It might very well be in their power to apply a permanent Shift on our bodies automatically.
weaponry: (BLOW OH OH OH OH OH OH OH OH)

[personal profile] weaponry 2012-01-24 08:59 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I am. A personalized barcode shift seems a bit odd for a shift to do, and the Malnosso have been shown to wipe people's memories about what they experienced before, and drop people off in odd places. Not to mention, not all shifts serve to be so convenient and constant for the Malnosso unless you think they're the ones controlling the shifts which is plausible.
paladinlost: (frowning)

[personal profile] paladinlost 2012-01-25 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
...Personalized? What do you mean by that?

[Nope, he hasn't realized that they're sll slightly different.]

I've no doubt that they do control at least most of the Shifts. Some of the experiments cannot possibly be accidents.
weaponry: (now you’re one of us)

The codes on our neck are different from person to person. Mine isn't like my roommates, floor mates, the people in my communal housing or anyone else in town. [ Well, she has. ]

Yeah. Like that horoscope thing, or turning someone into King Arthur, or more noticeably making the moon crash into the earth and having everyone hallucinate their deaths. [ Oh the fun memories! Look at all of Tenten's adventures while in Luceti! ]
paladinlost: (anonymous)

[personal profile] paladinlost 2012-01-26 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Are they, now?

[He was about to start rubbing at his own barcode, but her mention of what happened for Halloween makes him pause for a few seconds.]

...Falling moon are always caused by malicious intent, in my experience.

[Screw you, Malnosso, for those lovely flashbacks from home.]
weaponry: (Default)

[personal profile] weaponry 2012-01-26 10:10 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. They're subtle but if you observe them long or with enough detail, it's apparent.

[ She pauses before the tone in her voice shifts to obvious confusion. ]

You mean they had that event before? You're actually telling me they repeated having people hallucinate the moon is crashing into the Earth previously!?

[ Tenten's home has a moon that has the ten tailed beast! The moon is actually a seal for it. Yep. Normally there'd be a witty comment here, but no matter how hard I try to think of one, I'll never actually think of one. It's just too absurd and out there to properly mock. ]
paladinlost: (frowning)

[personal profile] paladinlost 2012-01-27 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
[He was about to comment that first point, but clarifying the second might be more important at the moment.]

Oh, no, not as far as I know. My world has to deal with similar events; I was merely comparing the two.

[His moons are all spaceships and they can only be reached by riding a whale. Moons automatically make a story fifty percent more ridiculous.]
weaponry: (no vip sleaze)

[personal profile] weaponry 2012-01-27 02:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[ And now our ooc conversations become IC conversations too! ] Oh. Well, heh, it sounds like your world is similar to mine in terms of the moon being weird and everything. Ours is apparently a seal made to keep the Ten-Tailed beast from getting out and casting illusions and constantly eating people. You need the other nine tailed beasts to properly obtain it. So the thing in the night sky everyone admired is a trapped animal wishing to eat you this whole time. Funny how these things work out. [ The last part of her statement is slightly caustic. ]

How did your moon end up crashing into you? [ Have you ever seen a piece of fiction where the moon was just that? A moon? Neither have I! A moon by any other name is freaking crazy. ]
paladinlost: (anonymous)

[personal profile] paladinlost 2012-01-27 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
[Such a rare occurrence!

But man, does some of that sound familiar.]

...It's not quite our moon, you could say. We once had two; one left the planet's orbit years ago, and this one has recently appeared in its place. But it turned out to be inhabited by an being that uses it to consume planets that have evolved unsatisfyingly, including ours. And the previous one had a powerful Lunarian sealed within it by crystals, though he's since been defeated.

[...Way too familiar.]
weaponry: (we don’t need a key)

[personal profile] weaponry 2012-01-29 12:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, uh. [ A pause, she isn't sure how to go about this. ] It's nice to hear that our moon isn't the only one that's going to be involved in genocide, mass enslavement of the human race, and has a giant beast sealed inside it. [ Ah. The way Tenten decided is not the most polite route to take. ]
paladinlost: (sighing)

[personal profile] paladinlost 2012-01-29 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
...Of all the things worlds can have in common, that had to be it.

[He feels really bad for both of their worlds, by now.]
weaponry: (BLOW OH OH OH OH OH OH OH OH)

[personal profile] weaponry 2012-01-30 10:53 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I'm sure we have more things in common. We just haven't discovered them yet. [ Tenten doesn't really have sympathy, she has resolve to change things. It's why she's fighting in a war back home, after all. ]
paladinlost: (thoughtful)

[personal profile] paladinlost 2012-01-31 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
Have you ever heard of an attempt to actively find such connections between all the worlds represented here? That could make for an interesting discussion.

[As someone who was an hour away from being rid of that particular connection, his sympathy is at its highest.]
weaponry: (follow my lead)

[personal profile] weaponry 2012-01-31 07:10 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I found some similarities but I'm not too sure I'd try for connections that prove our worlds are connected or that we're alternates of someone else or another world or there's a connection otherwise. The implications of that are little absurd for my tastes. I keep my eyes peeled for them, like any sensible person placed in a centerpiece of every world would but it's not something I'd actively pursue. It's just comes off as a little pointless for me. Like it'd never get to any real resolution that'd confirm that all of these worlds are connected.

Unless you're talking about our worlds in what's similar, not with revealing what's been linked for hundreds, if not thousands, of years.
paladinlost: (flowy)

[personal profile] paladinlost 2012-02-01 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I was mostly thinking of the second point. It seems the various societies represented here include all possibilities when it comes to technology or politics. It could be nice to know who would be the most likely to understand how our homes work.
weaponry: (no vip sleaze)

[personal profile] weaponry 2012-02-02 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Hm. Well, I guess I'd be interested in that. I've met a lot of people with a lot of similarities so far, and, they're fascinating when you don't like them with conspiracies. [ She pauses and briefly hesitates before choosing the right words. ] How our homes work? Mine clarifying that a bit?
