No good, they don't have... How does this even work? I'll stay away from it for now...

[Rummaging noises come from the journal, numerous but careful. It sounds like someone is exploring the item shop.]

I apologize for bothering everyone, but could anyone recommend objects that are helpful to a household? Specifically, objects that are necessary for a new arrival or that can keep the house organized and clean. I'm not familiar with most of the products I find here, and I'd rather not bring anything that is useless or dangerous home. I'd be most thankful for your help.

Huh? Oh, um, I've been using the Icebrand I had with me when I was brought here.

Icebrand? You'll have no trouble if they send fire elementals at us, at least. I've found Defender, which... is not the best sword we had, but is somewhat stronger. You can take it whenever you need to, I have another blade with me.

[Another weaker blade, but he won't mention that detail.]

[Which means that Ceodore might cross the path of a small table, a bunch of rags, a mop, a bucket, a box of lightbulbs, two laundry hampers, a small trash can, a set of bed linens and a pile of assorted food. Rumors of a man bearing them all are unconfirmed.]

[Score! Big pile of stuff means Dad's back with food. The aroma of pizza's waiting at the door when Ceodore walks in. As is the happy warbling of Kelmis who goes racing towards the pile to shove his little chocobeak into it.]

[Time to make a mad dash for the little black bird before he's the happy recipient of that food stash.]

Hmm? Ceodore, is something- AAAAAAAAAAACK!

[...The good news is, Cecil managed to snatch the food away before it could end up in Kelmis' beak. The bad news is, everything else is now falling. Hope Ceodore is good at dodging!]

[Not a bit. Stuff comes crashing down on him, just as he gets that little feathered bundle of trouble in hand's reach.]

[And yet Kelmis is warking away, pretty oblivious to the trouble he's caused.]

[Cecil received a metal bucket on his toes, but luckily most of the pile fell in the other direction. Otherwise, his head would be done for.]

...Nothing is broken, no one is broken, and the food is safe. Let's count that as a victory.

[But Kelmis still gets lightly thwacked with the dust rags.]

Bad chocobo. Human food is not healthy for you.

[There's a disgruntled WARK from the chocobo, and then he picks up one of the offending dust rags in his beak and waddles away with it. Who knows what it's for.

Meanwhile, Ceodore's at least got the good grace to start picking things up.]

I need to build him a pen. He's getting too big to stay in the house.

[Not to mention way too much trouble.]

[Hopefully Rydia will not mind getting less rags than planned. Then again, what could Kelmis possibly do qith it?

A wooden pen, or one made of stone? Golbez said that materials are available, but I wouldn't know where to look.

[Oh ho ho! Cookies~! Ceodore swipes one for munching on while collecting the rest of the mess.]

I think wooden. Easier to build taller, more likely to keep him in. Unless he squirms through the rails.

Would it be solid enough to withstand the local weather and events? There's also the risk of a fire.

Hadn't thought about fire. There was an earthquake a few months back too.

An earthquake? Were the houses very affected?

Quite a few. That's how Selphie ended up living with us. Her building was damaged... and I didn't like her being all alone in that place. Uncle, Frey and Sonic stayed with us for a while after that, until the buildings were repaired.

That was very kind of everyone. I doubt she wished to stay alone either. I've met Frey, but not Sonic. Is he a friend of your?

He was. A blue hedgehog. He's been gone for months.

I suppose I'll not be able to meet most of the friends you've all made here, with all those disappearances.

It's been harder for Selphie. She's really sociable and some of her really close friends have been sent home.

And even when she makes new friends, the previous ones cannot be replaced. I suppose this is the price to pay to befriend people from other worlds.

Yeah. Each time it happens, she takes it harder. And... I worry what if..
