No good, they don't have... How does this even work? I'll stay away from it for now...

[Rummaging noises come from the journal, numerous but careful. It sounds like someone is exploring the item shop.]

I apologize for bothering everyone, but could anyone recommend objects that are helpful to a household? Specifically, objects that are necessary for a new arrival or that can keep the house organized and clean. I'm not familiar with most of the products I find here, and I'd rather not bring anything that is useless or dangerous home. I'd be most thankful for your help.

Of course I could. If possible, we should try all those we can use, even the one that involves your summoning powers. That means we'll have to bring my brother along, too.

I won't protest Golbez coming along. We work well enough together, though the same can't be said of Golbez and Kain...to put it mildly. He might listen if you mention it's for the sake of the drafts, but....

...Well, that will make that one Band rather troublesome to try. Teamwork is an important component, after all.

Even if they refuse to do so at first, it's fine. Kain can attempt his and Ceodore's, and Golbez and I can use a few. And we'll definitely create one for you and Kain.

I'd love that, Cecil. And you and I should come up with one, one that won't need my summoning.

That's part of my goal. Though until we manage to do so, you'll still be able to use one with Ceodore.

Thunder Wave? We've practiced that a few times, though I think we could get even better. That's something we can work on in the battle dome, too.

Practicing often cannot hurt. Goodness knows it took ages before the timing for Final Fantasy came naturally.

I'll bet...and I doubt we could pull it off with only three out of five. Still, we could always try to make a new band for the three of us.

You and Ceodore are the Band experts, not me. Still...if the bond is strong enough and their magic is similar enough to ours, I'd think it possible.

Perhaps we should try it with someone. Do you think Selphie would be interested?

Definitely. The bond is there, and the magic...well, there are some differences, but plenty of similarities, too. We should give it a try!

Are you still much needed at the welcome center? i think I hear less and less New Feathers on the journals, these days.

You're right. The flood should be trickling off by now. The only thing I do in between cycles is resupply the places and recruit volunteers, but that's by no means a full-time duty.

Considering the local system, recruiting volunteers must be the most complicated part. Do they disappear often?

It varies a lot, since there's no set pattern as to how long people will stay here. Some last a long time, others only a couple of months. But that's why I recruit every cycle, so that there's always enough people around.

I asked someone else, but... Is there a list of the people who appeared and disappeared? With how long they stayed, how many times they came, whether they remembered... Something like a census, you could say.

Hm...not that I know of, really. There have been attempts made for that, but none in recent memory. Besides, sometimes it's hard to keep track of who's disappeared if they weren't here for long and lived alone.

...It seems like a shame, to completely forget some of those who have come before us. And with so many people that return without memories...
