[Action
Should anyone be visiting the item shop in the morning or early afternoon, they'll be graced with the presence of a paladin! ...Which would normally be an extremely banal and commonplace event, but today said paladin happens to be a) turning the whole place upside down while looking for something, b) muttering some nasty curses that are directed at the items available in the shop, not at its patrons, promise, and c) wearing a long-sleeved turtleneck shirt over his mouth that happens to muffle most of point b). In the middle of July, if one must be reminded.
Some weeks, waking up is just not worth it.]
[Voice
The journal message comes later during the day, weary-sounding and still slightly muffled by that turtleneck.]
Would anyone be kind enough to help me find a razor? My visit to the item shop was... very fruitless. I'd owe you a favor in return, of course.

[action]
Careful!
[He laughs.]
Have you thought about that a lot? That's a lotta possibilities.
[action]
[So he makes two slightly less wobbly piles out of them instead.]
I have very little to do in this world, beyond training and cleaning the house. It gives me plenty of time to imagine worst case scenarios.
[action]
Oh yeah? You sure sound like a fun guy to be around.
[He means it jokingly; who wouldn't let their mind wander to unpleasant places when they're trapped in a place like this?]
What's the worst you've come up with?
[action]
[But he doesn't sound quite that serious when he says it.]
[action]
...I can't tell if that's a joke or not, but it isn't very funny.
[Yet he laughs anyway, running a hand through his hair.]
It's kinda hard to keep all your marbles in a place like this.
[action]
It can be, over time. But I find that regularly crushing monsters at the Battle Dome and thinking up new tricks with the filial spirits' magic helps. So does cleaning the house.
[action]
[He keeps his place neat at home, but now that he thinks about it, his house in Luceti might be cleaner for the very reason Cecil mentions. He brushes it off with a laugh and a shake of his head, then he looks at Cecil curiously.]
You learned that magic stuff?
[action]
I had to. My healing powers are naturally weak; with the barrier's power restriction in place, they only work on the most minor of injuries. So I chose to learn from Nala, and then from Hyt out of elemental affinity.
[action]
[Curiosity about the filial spirits all but forgotten, he speaks cautiously, wondering if this guy could be another immortal.]
Any sorta power like that would put you ahead of a lotta people, barrier or not, I think.
[action]
...I suppose I could still heal hairline bone fractures with some effort, which is better than nothing. But with Nala so easily accessible, even children can do better than that.
[action]
...I guess. But can you really trust those guys?
[Especially after all that happened with Twila.]
[ooc: Sorry for the lateness! I'm on hiatus.]
[action]
...Who knows? Nala feels benevolent, at least, and Hyt is such a faint presence that you could hardly imagine it's working against us, but there's no way to truly tell.
[ooc: No worriesâ„!]
[action]
I don't know. I don't wanna be too willing to trust anything here. But especially those guys, after what they did to us.
[ooc: Thanks!]
[action]
[He's glad they didn't have to go that far this time, but still.]
[action]
Killed?
[People come back in Luceti, but that still couldn't have been pleasant.]
[action]
Perhaps not all of them, but some certainly were, according to the people who were present back then. I have to wonder what exactly made it an undesired outcome, this time.
[If only to be thankful for it.]
[action]
That's crazy. Who knows if we'll get lucky the next time they do that?
[action]
[He sets a flowery lampshade aside and move on to the next item.]
[action]
[He shakes his head, smiling ruefully.]
I never thought I'd miss this about home, but at least somethin' was almost always happenin' there. It's better than goin' back and forth; you're already on your toes.
[action]
[At least during those decades he has nothing worse to worry about than isolated monster attacks.]
[action]
...I think dealin' with the world bein' destroyed would be a lot worse.
[action]
Oh, we'll stop it. We always do. But it does make one wonder if our grandchildren will someday have to deal with the same problems all over again.

Your world sounds pretty strange.
